From Candlelight to Satellite

'Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.'History has given us what the future would never be able to give us.These days where the crippled, disabled, old people, widows and orphans are considered as 'economical burdens';there is no value left for real love and affection.Every aspect is monetarily weighed.Life has become like a profit and loss statement;where each man wishes to debit more and more money but credits nothing and nobody for it.Sometimes while self-evaluating,we have to trace the immediate past, just like a doctor asks a patient about the history of his ailment. This analysis helps us identify the various forces that drive our actions and to assist us in rediscovering ourselves.
The Past or the early days of man on Earth was substantially different from the present. There was no religion, language, script, transportation facilities and no set of rules and regulations to be followed or preached. It was a nomadic wandering life of self-discovery.Slowly,man discovered fire, invented wheel, settled down on the riverside, and hence civilizations came into being. It was a community life. The harvest from agriculture was shared and land was equally distributed. But when European nations started a race for colonies, they broke the equality that existed among us.Industries took a superior form and left the people unemployed to an extent of acute poverty. It gave birth to slums where there was mass consumption but no purchasing power.Nuclear families came into existence. They began to desert the maimed, the retired and the physically handicapped. This in turn led to the setting up of Social Service Organisations.
Technology, indeed, has made a man's life easy but what became easy and unnecessary were values of family, bonding, togetherness and most importantly love.At the end of the day it is upto each one of us to learn from the past, love in the present and understand the future,at the same time not compromise our moral values.
