Corruption Comes Of Age

A handful of politicians ,mixed with crores of money,fried in a pan of power and lust and what you have with you is the perfect recipe for a scam.Corruption has seeped into each and every field and industry.Be it infrastructure,politics,education or media.It is creating a black hole in the nation's economy and believe it or not all of us are participating in it.We are participating because we either promote corruption or do nothing about it.

We promote corruption when we bribe the traffic policemen after having jumped the signal.We promote corruption when we pass a 100 note to acquire a driving license amidst the long queue at RTC. And we do nothing to stop it.All we do is surf through the day's paper and complain about how corrupt the society has become.So what can be done?

First and foremost,every citizen should be law-abiding.Secondly,laws are not meant to be made but to be implemented.Both the government and the society has to play a serious role in following the rules and regulations.Thirdly,every person having voting rights should not be blinded by person or party.Voting the right personnel into power is extremely important.Apart from that,youth should be encouraged to join politics.Families should not resort to 'I,Me,Myself' attitude.If it is our society we take pride in,we should be willing to accept the flaws and correct it.More importantly,it is not 'someone else's job' to clean up our society.It is me.It is you.It is Now.

Spread education like never before.We are almost on the verge of being the most populated country of the world,its high time we understand how to utilise it.Generate highly potent human resources!And the tadka of technology to it..wow..that would be ssssmmmmoookking!!However,solutions are not meant to be offered but to be put in practise.Economists and scholars of various fields discuss,analyse and offer solutions but nobody takes charge.Thus,we have reached a situation where we know corruption exists(duh!),we know how to tackle it(oh finally!) but there is nobody(including me) willing to take charge.Its all about the first step..and all of us are just waiting..

Kites..In the Sky..Soaring together..

Its that time of the year again guys..kites in the sky sky ..music fultu loud loud..affa affa shouting shouting..later realising realising..that its your own patang patang:)And you thought i could write poems?huh?see i proved you wrong!Sankranti is the one festival where you literally and metaphorically personify craziness..only if you know the art of flying kites.Otherwise,you would be given the prestigious duty of holding the chakri and encouraging your kite flyer.Its a lot of fun(because i say so!)coz you dont get blamed for getting your own kite cut!
But this year try something different.Instead of going and buying a kite from the stall,go to a DVD rental shop and check out the movie KItEs.Yes people,i know its a tedious task but it will teach you what not to do next year on Makar Sankranti:)I seriously wonder why the movie never flew.(Oh,it never took off actually)It had everything,oh wait,the story was never there.There you go.Just by roping in a few hot stars and international locales is not working at all in Bollywood.What the audience wants is a better storyline and concept.Toonpur ka Superhero got better reviews than Tees Maar Khan yaar! 2010 was a big let down certainly.Lets hope if not the movies atleast the sequels to be released this year bring in a breath of fresh air..

Ad industry is grooming at an unbelievable rate.With investments worth crores of rupees,every ad is aiming to innovate,improvise,persuade,change and induce an action among its audiences.It is a proved fact that advertisements do have an impact on the people.Some critics suggest that advertising promotes a materialistic way of life by leading people to believe that purchasing products or services helps achieve happiness.Today,mass number of people of various age groups,gender,educational level,professions are seeing ads on various TV channels and having a broader impact on their habits,living and lifestyle.
Advertising stimulates consumption,economic-activity models,lifestyles and ofcourse purchasing power.Consumers come across extensive daily doses of advertising in multiple media.With the continual attack of marketing strategies on them,it is but obvious that somewhere it will affect an individual as well as the society.I believe that advertising today is slightly implanting a gender role to the society.When you see a car commercial for a mechanic based product(say oil or petrol),the mechanic is a man.At the same time,when you see a commercial about cleaning products for the house,normally.its the women's face you see.Media can help break the barriers on how gender roles are portrayed in society.Because popular consumer culture is both producer and product of social inequality,we ourselves have allowed advertising imagery to construct negative and perpetuate stereotypes of gender.These stereotypes constructed in advertising threaten the society because they cause an irrevocable inequality between men and women.
Nevertheless,advertising is an important part of the promotion of the marketing strategy,along with direct marketing,PR,etc.Moreover,it gives access to vital information related to the product or service and opens various avenues for the customer in the given market set-up.Whether the consumer is left 'confused' or 'informed' is,however,debatable.
